Kelly reads at 6 Minute Memoirs in Hamilton

The theme this month: The Great Escape!

Kelly reads from her short story “White Bird Rising”

In the spirit of #metoo, I’m sharing my short story, “White Bird Rising,” a piece I wrote about a violent childhood sexual abuse experience, (trigger warning) that was published originally in The Malahat Review, Issue: Winter 1992/93. To my sisters and fellow survivors, remember the body may be broken, but the spirit will overcome. I wish hope and healing for everyone in 2018!

Telling Tales Children’s Literacy Festival

Westfield Village- 2017

I had fun this past weekend volunteering at the Book Swap at Telling Tales. What a great festival. Spent the afternoon in the shade at the bandstand listening to wonderful children’s authors: Kevin Sylvester, Itah Sadu, and Emma Donoghue, who signed a book and even posed for a photo!!!
