“If someone is not on your page, maybe they are not on your journey to the new you.”
--Graeme Currie
I’m obsessed with intermittent fasting these days (after being diagnosed pre-diabetic) and have been devouring everything I can get my hands on for the last two years on the subject. When I’m not reading fiction, I’m pouring through books on health span, my second passion. Graeme’s book was one of the first that I read. Although Australian Graeme Currie is no Shakespeare, he tells it like it is, and it’s a moving story about his life as an obese man and his newfound dedication to getting well and thin in order to stay alive and see his daughters grow up. Diets don’t work. And of course, summer is a difficult time to stay away from ice cream. But IF is one of the most healthy ways I know to practice self-care while still enjoying food and a social life. Lots of great wisdom in this brief little memoir, not just about fasting but also about how taking charge of your health can change your life. @graemecurrie_63 #fridayreads
